Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on February 14th worldwide. Roughly a Western tradition, this day is now widely celebrated in the eastern part of the world as well as in countries like India and China.
Real History about valentines day
- It is believed that this day was first included in Pope Gelasius I by 496 AD. In the early years there were many martyrs named Valentine who died for many reasons. However, none of them was related to love. It was in the 14th century that Valentine was associated with love and it is believed that the tradition of Valentine’s Day began with that special Valentine
- However, there are many other theories in the form of the origins of Valentine’s Day. Some believe that this day was celebrated to honor a Saint Valentine when they refused to obey the orders of Emperor Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II had ordered that the young men should avoid marrying, because they believed that after marriage the men are no longer good soldiers.
- However, Valentine in question did not follow this order and helped many young men marry secretly. The Valentine was thus killed by the Emperor and Therefore, the tradition of Valentine’s Day was introduced.
Valentines day celebration
This day is celebrated mainly in western countries, but it has started registering in other countries also. On this day, lovers exchange gifts and cards to express their love for each other, while single men and women go out in search of their Valentine. Many clubs and discs organize special nights on this day, which are held with Thumping Music, Candle Light Dinner and other romantic settings.
